About me
Deborah Pelletier is a descendant of the Red River Métis Nation. Her family moved from the Red River Settlement area to live in the Qu’Appelle Valley region with other Métis communities in the early to late 1800’s. Her family left the Lebret coulee/Metisse farm in the 1960’s to access employment opportunities and formal education in Regina. Deborah obtained a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Regina through Saskatchewan Urban Native Teacher Education Program (SUNTEP) and subsequently, completed a Master of Library and Information Studies Degree from the University of Alberta. She has worked primarily as an educator and as a librarian. After retiring from Library and Archives Canada she returned to her community in Saskatchewan. Deborah continues to research and write about her family history, volunteer in the community, and provide advisory and research services on Michif (Métis) matters.
